A passenger car, motorcycle, or truck tire is manufactured by wrapping multiple layers of specially formulated rubber around a metal tire in a tire-forming machine. The different parts of the tire are manually carried to the forming machine where an assembler (an employee of the tire manufacturer) cuts and positions the strips of rubber to form the different parts of the tire, called the “green tire” at this point.
